One of my personal favorite restaurants on the Big Island of Hawaii is the Bamboo Restaurant in Hawi Town.

When you walk into this charming old style Hawaii eatery, it's as if you stepped back in time into a world of carefree and relaxed Polynesian comfort.

The food is outstanding - Coconut Crusted Fresh fish of the day drizzled with sweet chili aioli - Sesame Nori Crusted Tiger Shrimp served with a Ponzu dipping sauce, just to name a few. And their desserts are mouth-watering delicious - Be sure to check out the Mocha Cappuccino Cheesecake (which won the Kona Coffee Festival First Place Award) or how about the White Chocolate Passion Fruit Cheese Cake. In short, everything I have ever tried there is superb.

The Bamboo also has been voted #1 restaurant on the Big Island, and recognized by such notable publications as The New York Times and Sunset Magazine.

If you're looking for a truly local Hawaiian experience while on the Big Island, try the Bamboo out. It's a bit out of the way, but sooooo worth it!
